Climate change is one of the very highlighted topics that are affecting the whole world, but have even greater impact in Palestine, where natural resources have been systematically destroyed and detained. addressing climate change through inter-agency coordination, professional relationships between community leaders and government officials, will help in better understanding of possible effects of climate change, and better ability to face it.
Union of Agricultural Work Committees (UAWC)
UAWC was founded in 1986 as a non-profit organization by a group of volunteers and agronomists. Its mission is to empower small farmers, both men and women, as well as their families, and strengthen farmers’ resilience on their lands in an agricultural and public developmental framework at the public level.
Project: “ Struggling for Food Sovereignty”
In 2014, UAWC started cooperation with RLS in implementing the project entitled, “Struggling for Food Sovereignty” which aims at raising awareness of local agricultural committees towards climate change. In 2015, UAWC will be working on activating international and national agricultural alliances and organizations’ involvement in advocating for the Palestinian right to food sovereignty.
